The Board of Directors of World BASC Organization has selected Mr. Fernando Duque as the new Executive Director of the World BASC Organization, at a time when the Organization is committed to a strategy of strengthening its internal processes, updating the BASC Norm and Standards, and expanding globally.

A pioneer in promoting BASC from its inception and active member representing BASC certified companies in the past, Mr. Duque began his professional career in the Armed Forces of Colombia, retiring as Colonel of the Army. He began his career in the private sector as Security Vice President of Tampa Air Cargo. During this time, he was invited by the U.S Customs Service, to play a leadership role in support of the creation of BASC in the Americas, leading business missions in several countries of the region, along with the ACSI teams, with the aim of promoting the BASC Certification of Companies and the creation of BASC chapters in several countries, such as Colombia, Peru and Ecuador.
He continued his professional career as Security Director for Latin America at DHL Express and Global Forwarding, where he worked for more than 10 years. During that time, he led the Security functions in DHL offices, warehouses and operations in 12 countries in the Americas. He also promoted the implementation and maintenance of the BASC program in 6 countries, collaborated with the Brazilian customs service in the training of AEO officials in 2015 and participated in the implementation and training of the C-TPAT program in several companies engaged in the logistics sector in Latin America.

Mr. Duque, in the position of Executive Director of WBO, combines extraordinary people and professional skills, and knowledge of the BASC organization, mission and culture, in carrying out new responsibilities assigned to the WBO headquarter offices in Miami, in coordination with the Board of Directors, the International President, his WBO staff and BASC Chapter Directors.
